Oceans do not have the capacity to produce more. Many types of fish are already considered to be "over-fished" and as a fishing resource, their very existence is threatened. 60% of the world's commercially significant fish types are endangered. According to the information by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) two thirds of all commercially significant fish reserves are already exploited or are endangered by over fishing.

At the same time the demand for the egg bearing fish grows increasingly.
If one assumes that every German citizen would consume only 250 g more fish per year, which roughly correspond to a single meal, the demand growth would rise to 20,000.

To overcome this food dilemma many experts feel that there is no choice but aquaculture. The demand for fish products by an increasingly growing world population cannot be met only by the age old method of salt water fishing any more. In short: Aquaculture, as practiced by us in Jessen, is the future of modern food production.
AquaOrbis plays a leading role in driving the development of this technology. Many years of experience in dealing with modern, eco-friendly recirculation aquaculture systems is self-substantiating.
